¿Que Pasa? What’s happening?Welcome to the Humane Society of Faulkner County!Vaccine Clinic! You can help spread the word by downloading this flyer. Print it, and post it at your work or school, ask store owners you know if they'll allow you to post it in their shops, hand it out to pet owners you know... The possibilities are limited only by your desire to help. Thanks!
Forever Homes in the Northeast! The Log Cabin Democrat recognized HSFC's efforts to find forever homes for many of Faulkner County's abandoned or unwanted dogs. The demand for pets is greater in the Northeast than in Arkansas, so HSFC has been finding homes throughout the Northeastern states for dogs we've been unable to place locally, then shipping those dogs to loving new homes. Our dogs find homes; families in the Northeast find pets to love. Everyone wins! Read the article at the Cabin's website. We love the Cabin! Every Saturday they feature one of our pets looking for a home. Please
don't forget to give the Cabin the support they give us!
Patch Needs Your Help! Patch is a very lucky fellow Megan found. He is missing an eye, and he has a broken paw. The HSFC is providing surgery to close the eye and the necessary care to mend his paw. But we sure could use donations to help take care of the vet bill. Please consider a donation to Patch by sending a check to The Humane Society of Faulkner County, PO Box 1055, Conway, AR 72033. You can write in the memo line "Patch," and we will make sure the money goes toward his care, including sterilization and shots. A big thank you to Megan and her husband Peyton, who have also offered to foster this
little guy. If you are unable to send money, then tell a friend who might be
looking to add a black lab mix to their pack. We affectionately call the black
lab mix an "Arkansas Purebred."
We Really Appreciate HipSway! The folks at HipSway recently presented HSFC with a check for $770, proceeds from a September benefit that was so much more than a fashion show. The models strutted the runway leading Bradley, Cookie or Prince, three dogs HSFC is trying to place in forever homes. Many thanks to HipSway, and the large and appreciative crowd that made this event a great success! HipSway, in downtown Conway at 920 Locust St., bills itself as a "Casual Chic Boutique"
carrying both men's and women's fashions.
Don't forget to support the businesses that help us help pets!
Special Thanks to Cedar Rock Yoga! In March 2009, Anne Avant, a certified Iyengar yoga instructor, held a yoga workshop to benefit the Humane Society of Faulkner County. She held the day-long workshop at her yoga studio nestled in a beautiful wooded area on Scenic Hill Road in Conway, AR. All participants were also treated to a delicious vegetarian lunch. The workshop raised over $500 for the Humane Society, which will go toward the costs of fostering stray animals and vetting injured animals. Anne is well acquainted with the Humane Society's programs and is currently helping with Hannah, a foster St. Bernard in the care of the Humane Society. She also owns four dogs and several cats, all of whom were rescued. Cedar Rock Yoga was also a sponsor of Bark-in-the-Park, the Humane Society's fall fundraiser. Drop by Anne's website, cedarrockyoga.com, to check out the programs that she offers. Please support those who help us out! Volunteers Needed! OK, so we’ve not been the greatest to always get back to folks who say they want to volunteer. But we are really going to try to do better. We need volunteers to help at Companions Thrift Shop on Washington Ave. in Conway. Volunteers are needed at Companions Spay/Neuter Clinic in Springhill, AR. Please email hsfc@conwaycorp.net with your name, phone number, and what you would like to do. We need YOU!! Foster Homes Needed! The number of animals we can rescue is directly dependent on the number of foster homes we have available. We need at least five new foster homes. That’s our goal for the year. So take some time to look at Foster a Homeless Dog or a Cat under the Get Involved tab. Fostering is one of the most rewarding contributions one can make to the HSFC. There is truly no better feeling than to see a perfect match between your foster dog and its new forever family. You’ve saved a life! |
